How the Moon calendar works
The phase. Cut while the Moon is growing (waxing) and your hair grows back faster and thicker. Cut while it is shrinking (waning) and your style holds longer. I skip the New Moon completely and keep the Full Moon for masks and treatments.
The sign. The Moon changes sign every two to three days. Leo and Virgo are the best days for hair; Taurus and Capricorn make it strong. Cancer and Pisces, the water signs, can leave hair limp, so those are mask days, not scissor days.
Colour takes best when the Moon is in Taurus, Leo, Libra, Virgo or Capricorn. Waxing and hair removal last longer on a waning Moon.

It is an old tradition, kept by grandmothers and hairdressers in many countries. Try it for three months and see how your hair feels. At the very least, it gives you a lovely ritual.
